This conversion technique is a little bit difficult and requires some SMD soldering skills.
Knowledge in the field of Microelectronics may be helpful as well. If you are not sure that
you can do it, then don't do it. See if you can find someone with the knowledge and skill set.
I do not assume any responsibility of any kind. You are on your own if you choose to follow
these instructions.
The MAX1241 chip is available as free sample form
MAXIM semiconductors
all other components are available at your favorite electronic parts mailorder place.
Shipping cost will probably be multiple times the cost of the components.
How to:
1.) Open the 502 case by removing the two screws and then remove PCB for easy access
2.) install components as per picture above using suitable soldering tools, resistor case sizes are 0805
Note: pin1 of the IC is with the trace and the via. The positive side of the polarized cap is on the same trace.

3.) remove component as per picture above, again using suitable soldering tools
depending on your soldering tools and your skill the LCD display may need to be
removed for better access to this confined area.
4.) install PCB and close case with hardware
5.) When using 9251, upon initial power up press both function keys to access the 'hidden' menues, select RESET
to initialize with factory defaults. Continue with 6.)
5a.) When using 9254, connect the 502 to your heli "without the 9254 Servo!!!" keep it unplug!!
5a1.) turn on your TX and then turn on your heli system while pressing both FUNC +- on your Gyro.. (to get into the Hidden menu)
5a2.) Then on the hidden menu you should make RESET!
use the (+) button two times to confirm the RESET (you will see that)
5a3.) Then turn off and on the Heli system again with both FUNC +- on
your Gyro press down! (to get again into the Hidden menu)
5a4.) now on the hidden menu change the value of (Pulse Width) "PlsW"
and change it from "Nar" (for 9251) to "Wid" (for 9253, 9254 and other 'normal' Servos)
5a5.) only now it's safe to connect the servo 9253,9254
6.) program your GY601 as per the GY601 manual or as per your preference. For programming tips checkout
